Making healthy eating and exercise choices when you have a million things to do for work isn't always a seamless thing. Whether you're a student and have finals or are working - when things speed up you always gravitate towards snacks and unhealthy foods. With so many people in America being overweight and obese, it's important to be cautious about what we ingest.
Masiel Encarnación found herself overweight and unable to fit into her clothes when she had a wake up call, and found her passion in Zumba©. After getting herself fit, healthy and back on track, she's now dedicating her time to helping others bounce back.
We spoke with personal trainer and fitness coach Masiel Encarnación to figure out exactly what working women can do to stay snatched while staying busy.
What are some ways busy women can eat healthy during the week?
When it comes to busy women finding time to eat healthy, prepping your meals in advance is the real MVP.
On average, we make about 200 decisions about food each day.
Each time you leave it up to hunger to make the choice for you, you deplete your willpower and set yourself up for failure.
The easiest way to automate your healthy eating is to set aside 1 or 2 days out of the week that you'll dedicate to food shopping, prepping and cooking.
If you don't have the time to set aside an entire day, you can prep the night before by making overnight oats, a breakfast quiche, or bagging up your fruit and veggies in advance.
What are some tips for fitting exercise into the work week?
Short bursts of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and compound exercises are one of the best hacks for fitting exercise into your work week.
Compound exercises utilize multiple joints and muscles simultaneously, which means maximal muscle recruitment, high nervous system activation, and more of a stimulus for muscle growth and more calories burned. Three of my favorite compound moves are deadlifts, squats and pushups.
What's some advice you give your clients who are just starting out on their fitness journey or who think they just can't get in shape?
Regardless of if you are a newbie or just need a helping hand to get you to the next level you should hire a professional. A trainer or coach will save you time, headaches, and stress.
