5 summer 2017 events every Creative Smart Girl should attend

It doesn’t matter if you’re happy with your 9-5, a side hustler or full-time entrepreneur – supporting others and attending events is critical to your professional growth.

Taking the time and money to invest in your development is only going to make you great at what you do. People organize events not just to make money and create exposure for themselves, but to present real value to their audience. This year is all about being excellent despite the circumstances and there are plenty of opportunities this summer to put yourself out there, and step outside of your comfort zone.

Here are five events being held this summer created for and by women of color in business: 

 

Black Bloggers United – Black Bloggers United (BBU) is the online network for Black content creators, and is the brainchild of Victoria Mason of She’s Candid. It launched in 2015 and now has over 400 members within the network, and a board of 8 regional directors.

Blog Her 2017 – BlogHer was created to help female bloggers level up their blogging game and learn how to make money from social media and the content they create.

Features: Keynote speakers, workshop sessions where you’ll learn the best techniques and practices in blogging and social media.


 

Empower Her 2017Empower Her is a conference hosted by Black millennial platform Blavity. This two day conference for influencers, content creators and entrepreneurs is all about living your best life and finding your tribe.

Location: Chicago, IL

Essence Festival –  Each year Essence Magazine and Coca-Cola host a festival in New Orleans to celebrate and educate the modern Black woman. Essence festival isn’t just about having fun with friends but inspire, educate and expose you to new opportunities for growth.

When: June 29th- July 2nd

Location: New Orleans, LA

Features: Featured celebrity speakers including Ana Duvernay, Rev. Al Shaprton and Phaedra Parks, music concerts with Solange, Chance the Rapper, and Mary J. Blige, vendors and exhibits.  


 

Hustler Her Way Summit – This is the second Hustle Her Way Summit and it’s sure to sell out, just as it did in 2016. The summit was created for women with great entrepreneurial ambitions, to provide them with the tools and resources they need to succeed. The summit is hosted by Kyshira Moffet, MBA of KSM Group.
