Get out of a style rut

individuals who reached adulthood around-4 Step 1: Admit You Have a Problem

As a style blogger it's hard to admit when you're in style rut. So here goes...

Hi my name is Nia and I am in a style rut.

I'm bored with my entire closet; this is an all-time low for me. There are usually 2-3 pieces at a time that I can't wait to shoot and share. This was really getting to me until the operations manager in me kicked in and I had an epiphany. I need a system that allows me to get the work done regardless of how I FEEL. My closet is literally falling apart, my clothes are all over the place and more importantly I do not have a system for style posts. With that said, I'm not one to mope around for too long. I've developed a system!

Step 2: Get Organized

First, I need an organized way to store my clothes. I currently do not have much closet space, but there are some really great ideas for storing clothes without a closet. I've always wanted to use my clothes and shoes as part of my home decor, so this is a no brainer.

Getting organized is also a great way to take inventory. I need to know what I have and what I don't have.

I plan to use EXCEL to track each piece and how many times I've wore them on the blog. I've always wanted to use a Polaroid camera to plan outfits, this might be the time to start. I'll be sure to keep you guys posted on how this little project goes. Now that I know what my needs are I can move on to the next step.

Step 3: Go Shopping

Next, I'll be ready to go shopping. I have quite the wish lists on my favorite shopping sites but, I don’t want to go too crazy.

There are tons of really great trends I'd like to try this summer but, I'm really invested in keeping it free-spirit chic.

That means tons of cool flats, dresses, head bands, and no bras. Life should be good.

Step 4: Create Original Content

Finally, to be honest, I'm bored out of my mind with the usual outfit posts. I'm ready to take things to the next level.

I've been mulling over some really good ideas for adding value when it comes to style and shopping on the blog.

It won't be easy, but it's necessary for the growth of the blog. A cute outfit is nice but you guys deserve a little more. With all three of these working together, I'm sure I'll get out of my rut and stay out of any future ruts.

How do you get out of your style rut?

xoxo, Nia
