10 Reasons I Hopped the Warriors' Bandwagon

I've been a Lakers fan since the 7th grade, that won't change. The Lakers haven't appeared in the finals for quite some time, so for the past few years I've had to jump on somebody's bandwagon. I'm not going to apologize for it. A girl's got to do, what a girl's got to do. This year I convinced myself there were 10 legitimate reasons to root for the Golden State Warriors: 1. Riley Curry

Family matters! Our children matter! At the end of the day, when all the lights dim, and the cameras are gone, we are still here as his biggest, loudest, and most supportive cheerleaders. We are also extremely proud that in spite of some criticism, Riley was able to share in that experience with her father and bring joy and laughter into the lives and homes of many all over the world.

Our children matter! Yes they do. We live in a time where it's commonplace to turn on your tv and see black children being abused by the people that are supposed to protect them. When we see Riley, we see joy, we see FREEDOM! Riley has the privilege of being herself and we love it!

2. Ayesha Curry

Whether I have a good game or bad game, we lose or win, I go home and things are good. And that’s comforting to know and I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you’ve done for me. You deserve a round of applause, for sure!

I mean...black love right? But, Ayesha is much more than her marriage. She is an aspiring entrepreneur with a very promising brand. Ayesha describes 'Little Lights of Mine' as her place to give thanks and share the people, places, and things that bring light into my life. When she's not cooking with Riley on her YouTube channel, you can find her on her website sharing her accessible and effortless style tips with us. You can also purchase her extra virgin olive oil and Little Lights of Mine Apron on the site. Can't wait to see what she does next.

3. Sonya Curry

Obviously the most important thing is your family, taking care of each other, loving each other no matter what. And regardless if I played basketball or not, I know you guys love me without a shadow of a doubt. You encourage me in any path I would’ve taken. Just thank you so much.

Obviously, I have a thing for the women in Steph Curry's life. There have been all kinds of videos and memes of his mom these last few weeks. I'm sure it must be awkward, but Sonya Curry is gorgeous! Go Sonya!

4. Daddy-Daughter love

The relationship between Stephen and Riley is beautiful to watch but more importantly I've had the opportunity to really bond with my dad during these games. My father is an athlete, he played football (soccer) his whole life. He loves sports. The series was a wonderful opportunity to spend time together, laugh a little, and yell at the tv even more.

5. Andre Igoudala Andre was named the MVP of the series!! Good for him! After 11 years in the league this was well deserved.

6. Lebron Vs. Kobe

I want Kobe to have more rings than Lebron...Petty? Sure, I don't care! Kobe over Lebron forever!

7. They Have A Good Team The Warriors were just the better team. Lebron was phenomenal. He proved that he was one of the greats. It just wasn't enough to win the championship.

8. This might be their only chance To be fair, I really wanted the warriors to capitalize on this opportunity. I'm not sure they will ever have it this easy again. The CAVS did not have all of their pieces and the West will only get better.

9. I love Basketball

That shot by Teresa Weatherspoon started my love affair with basketball. I love this game!

10. Because...I can I'm a grown woman I can do whatever I want. THE END!

Congrats to the Golden State Warriors!!

xoxo, Nia
